Lin Jun Legacy

One of the most disturbing news broadcasted from Montreal in the past month is definitely the tragic death of Lin Jun.

I have yet tried to read about it simply to understand what truly happened. I was incredibly shocked to learn that not only did Luka Magnotta kill a young student from my University (Concordia), that very victim was also an international student from China; Lin Jun was from Wuhan.

The first time I heard about that sordid story was a few days after I had landed in Beijing, China. The first info we got were that several limbs had been sent to Ottawa and to Canadian Prime Minister Steven Harper precisely. A foot had been sent to the Conservative Party of Canada and a hand to the Liberal Party. I thought it was a joke of bad taste and almost laughed when I learned the news. I was naïf enough to believe it was some kind of nurse or crazy doctor who had sent remains from a deceased patient (!).

But when Inspectors and Police services began investigating on the latter and identified the limbs to belong to Jin Lun and that his murder had been shot on camera and posted online, an international manhunt was demanded by Canadian authorities. It took very few weeks to keep trace of Magnotta who had flown to Europe in the mean time and was hiding in Berlin, Germany.

He was spotted in an internet café in Berlin while reading articles about himself online when he was arrested.

Since then, a lot of public personalities in Canada have voiced their condolences to Jun's family who flew all the way from China to Quebec to attend his funeral.

Magnotta  -a former gay porn star and justice violator- has been arrested and pleaded non-guilty which will extend his lapse between time of murder and imprisonment. His murder is ironic and disgustingly evil as the main premise of it was simply to become notoriously famous. Not only was he a psychopath, he was also an attention whore it seems.

Lin Jun's torso has been found in a suitcase left in an alley next to an appartment building in the Snowdon area of Montreal but his head was found in Angrignon Park just a few hundred meters from my friend K's house!!!

This event is probably one of the saddest and most shameful ones to have ever occured in Montreal. It also gave the city and Canadian authorities a very bad reputation by making Chinese people question the level of safety provided in Canada.

I feel so saddened to know an innocent young man like Lin Jun escaped from his home-country to seek a new life of his own which involved earning a University diploma, getting professional work experience and perhaps finding love and ended up murdered by a lunatic and insane fuckhead. It is undeniably frustrating and hurtful to know that he was abused, mistreated, suffered and that his final reprieve was filmed and has been viewed online by sickening people hungry of blood and pain.

May Lin Jun rest in peace and his family be granted of all the negative media attention and lack of respect they have been victim of.

R.I.P. Whitney Houston

Okay I know it may be a bit late to blog about Whitney Houston's trespassing but I just didn't have the time. Which doesn't mean I didn't care, hell no. I LOVED Whtiney and was incredibly afflicted and distressed to learn that she had passed away. The way I got to learn was actually pretty memorable and weird. I was working at my restaurant and was very busy. I had a group and needed to hurry the fuck up to bring them pieces of cake and as I was cutting the cake to serve my customers, one of the waiters at my job passed by and glanced at me with the most serious face in the world and said "Whitney Houston died".

Whether or not he knew that I was a fan, I felt like he could feel my pain! Actually, Gabuschka and Nadem knew that I was a big fan as we had listened to her torch hits in my car before and had sung along with it as loud as our lungs would allow us but that waiter, I didn't know he had a clue about my Whitney fever.

I didn't know if it was a hoax or if it was true but deep down inside, I felt like it had to be true. My dear friend Fabulous Andy was waiting for me to finish my shift that night as we were supposed to go celebrate Jizz and Larah's B-Dayz at St-Helen's Island after my shift. I rushed to Fabulous Andy and asked her to verify on her iPhone about Whitney's death. She said she couldn't connect on the local WiFi so we had to wait until we were home to ascertain the info.

I realized that it wasn't a hoax by reading the most trustworthy media source out there: http://perezhilton.com! I was so sad when I read the official announcement. The day after her death was the GRAMMYs and also my Managerial Accounting midterm exam! I was so depressed to have an accounting exam (I hate accounting) on a sunday afternoon, combined with Whitney's death, a ass-cold outside temperature of -15 and lack of sleep! At least I got to watch the GRAMMYs that evening and forget about my exam and watch Jennifer Hudson's tribute to the late'n great Whitney.

We have lost a beautiful and talented woman, artist, songtress and sista. God rest her soul. We shall never forget you Whitney, especially me, I will always love you!

My favourite songs of hers of all time:

R.I.P. Marjorie Raymond (1996-2011)

As most people living in Quebec already know, a 15 year-old girl named Marjorie Raymond committed suicide two weeks ago because she was being bullied at school and outside of it on a daily basis and this, even during the weekend.. I know it's been two weeks and I haven't talked about it well I just didn't have time but I wish to make up for it with this article.

I couldn't explain how saddened I was to hear that story as I know how it hurts to be bullied and how miserable you feel deep inside. It seems like in her case, she had been bullied by a group of girls for the last three years. She feared and hated school so much due to that suffering that she failed to complete her second year of High School.

Marjorie lived with her mother and younger sister in Sainte-Anne-des-Monts in Gaspésie, Quebec. She had been raised in Granby, QC until her family decided to move to that remote area in Northeast Quebec.

Marjorie was said to be a good student and to have a close and respectful relationship with her mother which is the reason why the latter told the authorities that she had been suspected to be the cause of Marjorie's high absenteeism at her High School. In fact, her mother reports that she tried to skip school as often as she could in order to avoid being taunted and teased by the group of girls that wouldn't leave her alone.

Her mother also claimed that the other girls were kind of jealous of her as she was good-looking, sociable and had previously had academic success. The mother deplored that the school's direction even went on to tell her that it was her fault if she was good-looking!
